From the scan to the finished restoration: dentona demonstrates digital workflow expertise

As a dental laboratory, how do I establish digital technologies in my dental practices? This is a question that concerns many laboratories. Answers and practical support can be found at dentona - far beyond the well-known material expertise. As a partner for the entire digital workflow, the Dortmund-based company supports laboratories from the scan to the finished restoration. One example of this was demonstrated in Hamburg in mid-April: dentona supported a workshop organised by the Volksdorf dental laboratory, which provided dentists with in-depth insights into the possibilities of modern intraoral scanners. CAD/CAM experts Matthias Mohr and Kay Neuwald provided practical expertise on the basics, technology and cost-effectiveness.
Digitalisation starts at the dental chair
"The quality of data acquisition determines the outcome of dental work," says Matthias Mohr. "Modern intraoral scanners such as the Aoralscan 3 and the Elite model from Shining 3D not only optimise the impression itself, but also the entire process chain." The Aoralscan 3 impresses with its high scanning speed and precise colour representation, while the IPG technology (intraoral photogrammetry) of the Elite scanner is particularly interesting. This combines intraoral scanning and photogrammetry in one device for the first time - an advantage for implant restorations.
SHINING 3D: theory meets practice
After the theoretical part, the participants tested the two scanners themselves and received valuable tips from the dentona experts. "There were many questions about integration into existing workflows," said MDT Ina Twieg-Güvenal from the Volksdorf dental laboratory. "As always, teamwork between the practice and laboratory is important. It was therefore helpful that we didn't just talk about the devices, but about holistic processes." And this is where the strength of dentona: comes into play. The company thinks in terms of integrated workflows that encompass all aspects of modern dental technology.
From scan to finished denture
The workshop illustrated how seamlessly different work steps can be interlinked. From data acquisition and CAD design to production using 3D printing or milling technology - dentona offers the right solutions and materials for every step. "Our customers appreciate the fact that we guide them through the entire process," explained Kay Neuwald. "The harmonisation of all components - from the scanner to the software to the production materials - is crucial for the success of digital processes in the dental laboratory."
Practical and future-orientated
The support of the workshop emphasised the approach of dentona to be close to the needs of customers. For dental laboratories, the integration of intraoral scanners also means supporting their dental practices in the digital transformation. This is where dentona provides important support with its technical expertise and in-depth understanding of dental technology processes.
The feedback from the workshop was consistently positive. The practical presentation and the opportunity for hands-on training were particularly well received. "It is crucial for our laboratory to support dental practices on their journey into the digital future. The collaboration with dentona enabled us to offer a future-oriented event and at the same time demonstrate our own expertise in the digital workflow," summarises Ina Twieg-Güvenal.
